Chicago Horror Film Festival

2017 Special Guests!

Be sure to join us all weekend and meet all of our great Special Guests and Vendors!

Michael Flores (Official Host)

The Chicago Horror Film Festival is excited to announce and welcome Michael Flores as our 2017 Festival Host!

Michael Flores, comedy guru Del Close and SuperVixen Pam Boom Boom Smith, if that is really her name, decided they wanted a new kind of fandom that included women and partied in the top nightclubs of the day. From The Limelight to Chicago's Metro and every bar in between The Chicago Psychotronic Film Society was the first to make fandom hip. From all over the world Dario Argento, Bill Murray, Jamie Gertz,  Penn and Teller, Herschell Gordon Lewis, John Cleese, Russ Meyer and many more came to Chicago to host parties the film society gave. This was when celebrities avoided conventions like the plague.

Boom Boom set up the Women's Auxilliary which showed films that degraded and humiliated men and women flooded the shows. The society newsletter IT'S ONLY A MOVIE was bootlegged all over the West Coast and was required reading for studio execs. Alan Moore was interviewed by the zine before any American publication had done so. You can now find THE CHICAGO PSYCHOTRONIC FILM SOCIETY on Facebook and here over the next three days as Michael Flores is the host of our festival. He has produced, directed and written 19 plays which have featured Mark Mothersbaugh from DEVO and Skunk Baxter from THE DOOBIE BROTHERS and STEELY DAN doing music, had Teller of Penn and Teller in his cast, Coralina Tassoni from Dario Argento movies, Vogue cover girl models and people you wouldn't expect in low budget theatre! He is currently in pre-production for THE WEDDING OF IRENE ADLER AND SHERLOCK HOLMES.

Jay Warren

The Chicago Horror Film Festival is honored to welcome Chicago's foremost silent film organist Jay Warren, who will provide LIVE original score accompaniment to the 1922 silent horror film classic "Nosferatu" on Saturday, September 23rd, 2017 at the beautiful Patio Theater!

This is the first time in CHFF history that a silent film will be accompanied by a live composer!

"Nosferatu" - In this highly influential silent horror film, the mysterious Count Orlok (Max Schreck) summons Thomas Hutter (Gustav von Wangenheim) to his remote Transylvanian castle in the mountains. The eerie Orlok seeks to buy a house near Hutter and his wife, Ellen (Greta Schroeder). After Orlok reveals his vampire nature, Hutter struggles to escape the castle, knowing that Ellen is in grave danger. Meanwhile Orlok's servant, Knock (Alexander Granach), prepares for his master to arrive at his new home.

Pottery Marq

Handmade unique sculptures on the dark side by a, soon to be famous, artist sculptor :)

Due to major back issues, Susan Marquardt was forced to leave her twenty-five year retail management career and had a very difficult time finding work. So, she decided to return to school and obtain a bachelor's degree. For the fine art credit course, she had enrolled in her first ceramics class and immediately fell in love working with clay and set up her own home studio soon after.

She has always had a fascination with the paranormal, ghosts, zombies, and all other horror themes. She even married her husband in a haunted house on Friday the 13th (with none other than CHFF's "Mr. Willy" as the sinister minister)! So, it was natural for her to create her Krampus mugs. Susan's Krampus mugs are not only functional and food safe - they are very unique sculptures, with each one wheel thrown and hand sculpted individually. So, collect them, use them and display them proudly! No one will ever own one just like yours!

In addition to Krampus, Susan create subjects that pique her person interest and 'speak' to her: wall art, dinosaurs, skulls, etc... some of these are borne as a result of commission projects. Her skull mugs are a direct result from a friend's request for her to make them a skull mug.

Be sure to check out some of Susan's work on Sunday exclusively at the Chicago Horror Film Festival!  In addition to what art she will have on hand, she will also be taking orders for commission projects!
