Spook Show Entertainment is very happy to announce The Chicago Horror Film Festival will be hosted at the Des Plaines theater for our 2013 season. CHFF will be held the last weekend from September 27th through the 29th.
The Chicago Horror Film Festival is one of the longest running horror film festivals and has featured some of the best independent horror films from around the world for 13 seasons. CHFF has featured films starring actors like Tony Todd, Eric Roberts, Steven Williams, and many more. We have also featured many excellent guests over the years, like Reggie Bannister, Tiffany Shepis, Master Ron Fitzgerald, Edwin O'Neal, Ari Lehman, Dominique Swain, Chicago's very own Svengoolie and more.
And now for the 2013 season, we will be featured at the Des Plaines theater. The Des Plaines theater is committed to bringing arts, entertainment, and culture to the historical city. The theater was built in 1925 as the northwest flagship for the suburban Chicago Polka Brothers circuit of Maywood. It was constructed by businessman and saloon owner Barney Winkelmann on the site of the later residence of Socrates Rand, Des Plaines' first settler. The Spanish Baroque Revival building is the only known theatre designed by Betts & Holcomb departing from the Tudor aesthetic, with ebullient polychrome Terra Cotta.
CHFF looks forward to this years festival in our new location. We do want to say thank you to Dennis and Linda, formerly of the Portage Theater for the past several years where they allowed us to flourish in their theater. Moving on to new locations and working with new people is always different, but we look forward to this new venue and a new chapter in CHFF history.
The Des Plaines theater is located at 1476 Miner St., Des Plaines, IL
